What is RCIA?
RCIA (the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) is an ancient process that includes prayer, study, discussion, and spiritual preparation for the reception of Sacraments by which one enters the Church. This is a process of discernment, and those involved will discern their readiness for each next stage of the RCIA process with the support of their RCIA team. Our team is here to learn with you, to answer your questions as best we can, and to grow in faith side-by-side with you.
At our parish, the instruction and prayer are done on Tuesday evenings at 6:00 PM. In addition to the Tuesday evening sessions, there will also be a limited number of other special events for RCIA participants. Those involved in this process are always encouraged to take advantage of other events offered in the life of our parish.
Who is RCIA for?
The Ceremonies
During the RCIA process, those preparing to enter the Church are recognized and blessed in several ceremonies, both at the parish and in a large group with other RCIA participants from throughout the diocese. The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults culminates with the reception of the Sacraments at the Easter Vigil. The Easter Vigil is the solemn celebration of the Lord’s Resurrection that takes place on Holy Saturday night (the eve of Easter Sunday); it is the most important liturgy of the year. The celebration of the Sacraments of Initiation is an integral part of this liturgy.
